How Depression Affects People – Yes, It’s Very Real
Are you okay?
Always the same question.
I am fine!
Always the same lie.
Why can’t a person give a simple answer to a simple question like this? “I feel SAD…!”, “I am NOT OKAY….!” . These are mere words with huge impact in an individual’s life. What it’s like to be sad? To be depressed? To have anxiety? To have panic attacks? Is it a huge deal? Can we handle it on our own?
So much to ask…. and so little done.
Depression, it is a state of being sad and not remembering why. It is a mental disorder that needs utmost attention by every individual. Not a disorder to be shy about it. DEPRESSION is COMMON..!
Depression affects people from all walks of life, no matter to which background they belong or what their age is. It can affect anyone and anywhere. To be depressed is like living in a body that fights to survive every battle in the life with a stubborn mind that tries to die. It can be a difficult emotion to deal with, not only due to the pain it causes but also because of the factors that caused it in the very first place. This is a common unfortunate situation wherein the person dealing with depression has to act wisely and the person around him/her should revert wisely. Two sides of the same coin.
How does Depression affects People?
Depression is the emotion that definitely differs from generations to generations. Earlier this term wasn’t used frequently or people didn’t come out of the cocoon with this disorder. But in this 21st century, it is such a common disorder faced by everyone. Millenials these days have such a fast-paced, ever-growing and ever-increasing world-
- bigger dreams to accomplish
- hundreds and thousands of opportunities to look to

With so much pressure to deal with and to make everything in life perfect and apt, every individual has to keep up with the struggle that they are dealing with. And just when you feel everything is going on track, suddenly there is a huge hurdle and you fall flat on the face. Shall we consider such hurdles as an ending?
Of course NOT..!! There are times when things will definitely not work as we have planned it. It will definitely not be like ’At 22 – graduated, at 25 – get a dream job, at 28 – marriage, 32 – kids…’ blah blah blah.… It won’t go as planned, it NEVER will. And it is FINE..! It is absolutely FINE..! If you feel as though you are increasingly sad, and feel like your sadness is difficult to explain, the only way to help you out is to reach out to your closed ones. Reach out to people, talk to them, and share your feelings with them. Share how difficult your life is and how lonely you feel at the time. Pour your heart out. Ask if you need advice. Share your happiness AND sadness.
