Racism – A Belief That Destroys Humanity

With an immense rage in everyone’s heart against the White Police officers for their cruel act towards African-American resident George Floyd has left everyone with just one question in their mind, “Racism…. is this for real??”

For over centuries now Racism has existed throughout human society. We can say that it may be defined as the hatred of one person towards another — or the “belief” that one person is superior/inferior the other — because of skin color, language, customs, place of birth or any factor that supposedly reveals the basic nature of that person. But how we can judge the nature of a person or classify them based on these factors?

A loving person lives in a loving world. A hostile person lives in a hostile world. Everyone you meet is your mirror

On May 25 2020, Minneapolis police officers arrested George Floyd – a 46-year-old black man, accusing him of buying cigarettes with a counterfeit $20 bill. For over 8 minutes and 46 seconds, Floyd was pinned to the ground by the police officers until he was unconscious and showed no signs of life. Floyd’s death has made everyone in the world ‘NUMB’. This was a brutal act and justice to this should be a priority. Protest and riots are being part of the day to day life to give justice to him and his families. However, this isn’t the first-ever case in human history wherein the Black has been brutally tortured by the Whites. It’s been part of the human history for about 500-1000 years. Racism on the part of Westerners toward non-Westerners has had a far more significant impact on history than any other form of racism till date.

Racism

But have we ever wondered the root cause behind it? Why this discrimination? Why this hate among people? If this belief on the very first place would have been eradicated from human society, there would have been No #BlackLivesMatter , No George Floyd death, No deaths of Eric Garner and Michael Brown… There would have been peace, harmony and nothing but a better world to stay.

Pulwama Attack – Act of Terrorism or Act of War?

Its high time that we realize that Racism is social cancer in our society. It gnaws slowly and ultimately erupts to violence and death. Human memory is quite short-term. The Second World War death camps for the inferior race tribe might be forgotten by elder generation and new generation barely know if it existed. But one flame to this fire makes the entire world upside down.

A Protest Against Racism

Now living in the 21st century, we are more inclined towards facts rather than faith/beliefs. All the arguments are based on a false understanding of race is waste if we consider the factual information. Scientists do not agree on whether race is a valid way to classify people. What may seem to be significant “racial” differences to some people — based on skin color, hair, facial shape — are not of much scientific significance? In fact, genetic differences should be greater than racial differences between human.

There is a saying – “For it isn’t enough to talk about peace. One must believe in it. And it isn’t enough to believe in it. One must work at it.” We must believe in No superiority and inferiority and act on to it as there is no such thing as a difference in the human race. We all are same and we all are equal.
